I stumbled upon this movie at the public library. It looked interesting although the subject matter a little “dark”. All I can say is I have never, ever been more riveted my a movie in my life. Sure you say, but for me it was true. I could barely breath or move through the entire course of the movie. What unfolded on screen was beyond belief. How could mere children become so hardened and disfugured by their circumstances? The life of the children portrayed is so horrific as to suspend belief in a sane world. The filmakers unflinching lense (how they could watch what was happening with these children and remained focused on thier work is amazing enough) and the films almost real time approach make these children’s lives unfold in a most tragic way. By the end of the film you are left drained and shaken to your very core. What a world we live in. And God bless the children. You must see it.

CHILDREN UNDERGROUND follows a group of children living one subway station in Bucharest, Romania. These unwanted children exist as a result of Ceaucescus strict policy of outlaying abortions and birth control. Most grew up in orphanages while others lived with their families in dire poverty. They believe that their lives are better underground. This documentary films the daily exploits of these children along with the struggles they encounter to rehabilitate themselves. In order to attend school they must come clean and stop sniffing paint. In addition, they must have their identity papers, which are almost impossible for most of them. The most enduring parts of this film center on the interviews of the various family members of these children. Truly heartbreaking is the family of the small boy who doesnt understand why their youngest child wont return home. Watching this film will certainly make you appreciate the material things often taken for granted.

Movie Title: Easy Rider
Average customer review:

Easy Rider is available for streaming or downloading.

Click Here to Stream or Download Easy Rider

“Easy Rider” directed by Dennis Hopper, produced by Peter Fonda and written by Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper and Terry Southern was a low budget film ($340 grand) that surprisingly became a box office smash. The story is about two hippys (Fonda & Hopper) who buy choppers with cash they’ve gotten from a drug deal. They ride cross country heading to Louisianna (to Mardi Gras) and on their way meeting different people, visiting a commune of hippys, ending up in jail, going to a brothel, taking acid etc. The ending was disturbing in 1969 and still is, even in these days of non-stop violence in our country. This 35th Anniversary Edition is identical to the regular dvd version of “Easy Rider” with the exact same bonus material “The Making-Of Documentary “Easy Rider: Shaking The Cage” (feat. interviews with Fonda, Hopper, etc.) and an audio commentary by Dennis Hopper plus production notes. The bonuses for this 35th Anniversary Edition are a cd which includes eight songs (do not confuse this cd with the actual “Easy Rider Soundtrack” as it is not). The songs are “Born To Be Wild” - Steppenwolf, “The Weight” - Smith, “Nights In White Satin” - The Moody Blues, “Wasn’t Born To Follow” - The Byrds, “San Francisco Nights” - Eric Burden And The Animals, “The Pusher” - Steppenwolf, “It’s Alright Ma (I’m Only Bleeding)” - Roger McGuinn and “Get Together” - The Youngbloods. The 80 page book “Easy Rider” by Lee Hill is interesting and includes all you’ll ever want to know about the film. The bottom line is, if you already own the regular dvd of “Easy Rider” I’d pass on this 35th Anniversary Edition. Of course, if you don’t own this classic film it may be worth the extra cash for the bonus cd and book.

I bought this title because I am a motorcyclist. If you have never ridden one and want to know what it is like, this movie will take you on a virtual road trip from Los Angeles through beautiful mountain scenery down to Mardi Gras in New Orleans. The two stars, Peter Fonda (Wyatt) and Dennis Hopper (Billy), head out on the highway to the motorcycle anthem, “Born to Be Wild” by Steppenwolf, and there are some fantastic camera shots of them crossing the Colorado River. If that scene doesn’t get your blood pumping, then you can be assured that motorcycling isn’t for you.

There’s a lot more to this movie than just scenic motorcycling and sixties music. A typical biker movie has a weak plot, usually involving some gang terrorizing the local community. Before creating this movie, Fonda and Jack Nicholson (George), as well as some of the other cast members all appeared in such flicks. By contrast, “Easy Rider” is really a mold-breaker for its type, because it involves a lot of social commentary.

Early in the movie, Billy and Wyatt pick up a stranger along the highway, who turns out to be the leader of a commune. He is a dead ringer for John Lennon, when he had his Sgt. Pepper look. Wyatt and the stranger get along well, but Billy is suspicious of the hitchhiker. They take him back to his commune and hang out for awhile there with the people. Wyatt fits in OK, but Billy is not generally respected. Many of them make fun of Billy. For some time, this was very hard for me to account for, since Billy is a freak.

I did not gain any insights into this until I read the book, “Riders On the Storm” by Doors’ drummer, John Densmore. In it, he explains how the Doors, who were from Los Angeles, were not invited to play the Monterey Pop Festival. San Francisco flower power was about peace and love, and Jim Morrison, the lead singer, gave off an aggressive vibe. Densmore also said that some famous flower power musicians did not want to be publicly associated with The Doors. For instance, John Sebastian agreed to play harmonica on “Roadhouse Blues,” but he would not allow his real name to be used in the credits. I believe that the difference in values between Los Angeles and San Francisco is crucial to understanding why Billy was rejected by the commune members.

Wyatt and Billy are not from San Francisco, and they do not wear psychedelic clothing. They hail from Los Angeles, and they are preoccupied with freedom–not peace and love. Billy has a real aggressive vibe to him. He is very confrontational, and he doesn’t get along well with others. Wyatt is more of a seeker. He is open-minded and interested in what other people have to offer. They’re both rich, but not through legal or reputable means. They smuggled some cocaine across the border from Baja, Mexico, and then they sold it for a huge profit. The two are friends, and they seem to have accepted each others strengths and weaknesses.

The movie makes some clear statements about sixties social values and morals. In other cases, it brings up issues, but doesn’t reach any firm conclusions. The movie ends tragically, but it isn’t an indictment of flower power. Billy had rejected peace and love, and had he not reacted in the confrontational manner that he did, things might have turned out differently. This movie is about the tradgedy and failure of hate–and the need for peace, love, and understanding. I give this movie a five-star rating because it documents the issues of the times so effectively. As a motorcycle movie, this production is practically unbeatable because it has captured the spirit of motorcycling so well.

I was recently given the opportunity to offically review Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s DVD set BACK IN THE DAY Complete Season One on my blog, The Church of The Great Oval. BACK IN THE DAY is a treasure trove of information on the history of NASCAR. Whether you are an old school fan of the sport or a newbie to NASCAR, it is an investment you won’t regret. Dale Jr. has done an excellent job in allowing the watcher to learn more about the most popular sport in the U.S. through this wonderful trip through the past. You watch and learn many of the same things that Dale Jr. learned in the same way he did, by watching the old TV show “Car and Track”. Many of the most famous races and tracks of the 60’s and 70’s are highlighted, and the differences in the rules and regulations then and today are blatantly obvious. The Driver’s then, drove to win. They didn’t drive to please anyone but their own competitive drive and that meant doing what they had to do to win. Safety today and safety then is like black and white. The “old school” driver’s were, in my opinion 1/4 brave and 3/4 crazy! Those driver’s, made the sport what it is today. Buy it!! You will watch it over and over!!

Buy,Download, Or Stream Back in the Day with Dale Jr. - The Complete Season One! Click Here

The tv show is great. I love the old school nascar tapes. The pop-ups can be distracting but are neat also. If you enjoy racing the dvd is for you. The old races show where NASCAR came from and give reference to some of the bigger names in the sport. If you are new to NASCAR and want a brief history this set is also for you.

This is just one of several dvd’s I own by the same author, and this dvd on geometry, like his others, is excellent. As with all of his titles, Jason does an outstanding job of keeping things simple, clear and yet thorough. He’s extremely effective at presenting the why’s and how’s of math formulas and concepts in more than one way. For example, in this dvd, he presents the concept of a triangle as being “half” a rectangle — when you see his representation of this using the whiteboard, suddenly this both clarifies the concept of a triangle also shows connections to other concepts you might not have considered.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Geometry Tutor - 9 Hour Course - 2 DVD Set - Learn By Examples!! Click Here

In addition to explaining math concepts, Jason goes through several examples, allowing you to follow along with pen and paper at the same time.

It’s a rare gift to be able to explain things clearly and simply without dumbing down the subject (far from it — he’s also good at explaining challenging examples, too). Jason Gibson does an outstanding job in removing the mystery — and by extension, anxiety, and focusing on what you really need to know!

I already have the algebra DVDs by the same teacher and they were great so now that I am in geometry I thought I’d give them a try. I am glad I did! This DVD really helped me a lot to learn geometry and do well in class. Before getting this DVD I was confused and did not know where to begin on the problems. Now I at least understand the theorems and know how to use them and I actually like geometry now! I like the way the teacher takes his time and explains the lessons and doesn’t go too fast.

The third season of KING OF THE HILL is perhaps its best, with the writing at its peak and with as varied and well-defined a group of characters as you’ll find on any sitcom. Here’s a brief rundown of the 25 episodes in this set:

Buy,Download, Or Stream King of the Hill - The Complete Third Season! Click Here

1. “Death of a Propane Salesman” — The long-awaited conclusion to the cliffhanger that ended season two. A darkly funny opening to a great season, finding humor in the question of how we deal with death and fear of dying.

2. “And They Call It Bobby Love” — Bobby (Pamela Segall) falls in love with a girl (Sarah Michelle Gellar) who’s two years older than him. This episode won KotH the Emmy for outstanding animated series.

3. “Peggy’s Headache” — Peggy (Kathy Najimy) finally realizes that Dale’s wife Nancy (Ashley Gardner) is having an affair with her Native American “healer,” John Redcorn (Jonathan Joss). Another episode that takes a tough subject, adultery, and makes it funny.

4. “Pregnant Paws” — Hank (Mike Judge) tries to find a breeding partner for his dog Ladybird, which makes Peggy jealous, as she’s the one who really wants another baby.

5. “Next of Shin” — To add to Hank’s frustration over not being able to have another child, his father Cotton (Toby Huss) reveals that he’s going to become a father again. As you can see, this season of King of the Hill is one of the few seasons of an animated series that incorporates some continuing story arcs; the story points introduced in this episode will continue in other episodes and come to a head in the season finale.

6. “Peggy’s Pageant Fever” — Peggy enters a beauty pageant and becomes insecure both about her looks and her accomplishments. Contains some of the show’s best moments, especially a hilarious throwaway scene where Bill (Stephen Root) sings “Takin’ Care of Business.” Guest stars include Carol Alt and Kathy Ireland.

7. “Nine Pretty Darn Angry Men” — Hank, his friends and his father sit on a focus group, and Hank is the only one who objects to the company’s plans to redesign its product. Guest-stars, Billy Bob Thornton and Dwight Yoakam.

8. “Good Hill Hunting” — Hank wants to take Bobby on his first hunting trip, but is unable to get a hunting license. Like the gun episode from the second season, this episode both satirizes Texas culture and takes it as a given; and it’s not so much about guns as about a father-son relationship and the significance we attach to coming-of-age rituals.

9. “Pretty, Pretty Dresses” — The strangest Christmas episode ever: Hank’s lonely divorced friend Bill tries to kill himself, and then decides that if he can’t get his wife back, he will become her by wearing her old clothes. It sounds depressing, but it’s actually one of the funniest episodes of the season — with a genuinely touching ending capped by a great closing gag. What makes King of the Hill so good is its ability to be realistic and bizarre and affecting all at once, and this is one of the best episodes.

10. “A Firefighting We Will Go” — Hank and his friends become volunteer firefighters. An unabashed slapstick episode, full of Three Stooges references, crazy physical gags, and funny lines. One of the funniest episodes of the season demonstrates that KotH can do a “wacky” episode as well as anybody.

11. “To Spank With Love” — Peggy gets in trouble for spanking a student, but then becomes a hero as “Paddlin’ Peggy,” and starts to use her reputation to scare her students.

12. “Three Coaches and a Bobby” — When Hank gets his tough old coach to run Bobby’s football team, Bobby decides he’d rather play on the more fun, less regimented soccer team. Includes Hank’s infamous description of soccer: “Soccer was invented by European ladies to keep them busy while their husbands did the cooking.” Guest star: Will Ferrell.

13. “De-Kahnstructing Henry” — Hank’s overachieving neighbor Kahn (Toby Huss) tries to make Hank jealous of his great new job — but in the process, he gives away government secrets and gets fired.

14. “The Wedding of Bobby Hill” — Bobby and his cousin Luanne (Brittany Murphy) compete for the attention of a concert promoter and self-proclaimed genius, Rad (Matthew McConaughey). When things get out of hand, Hank and Peggy teach Bobby a lesson by convincing him that he got Luanne pregnant and has to marry her.

15. “Sleight of Hank” — After seeing a magic show, Bobby incorporates the tricks and patter into his Sunday School report on Jesus. Besides this hilarious scene (”I am The Amazing Jesus!”) the episode is a character study of the differences between Hank and Peggy.

16. “Return to La Grunta” — The story of Hank almost getting sexually assaulted by a dolphin is combined with a parallel subplot about Luanne getting sexually harassed at work. One of the show’s most famous and unique episodes. Guest star: Billy West.

17. “Escape From Party Island” — Hank takes his mother and her friends to a miniatures museum in Port Aransas, and winds up caught in the middle of MTV’s Spring Break. Guest stars: Pauly Shore, Phyllis Diller, Uta Hagen, Betty White.

18. “Love Hurts and So Does Art” — Nervous about the idea of going to a dance with Connie (Lauren Tom), Bobby starts overeating and develops gout.

19. “Hank’s Cowboy Movie” — Hank tries to get the Dallas Cowboys to move their training camp to Arlen by making a promotional video for the town. Everything goes farcically wrong, of course, but the episode has a surprisingly touching undercurrent about Hank’s fear that Bobby will leave Arlen when he grows up.

20. “Dog Dale Afternoon” — Dale (Johnny Hardwick) is driven round the bend when his friends steal his new lawn mower as a prank.

21. “Revenge of the Lutefisk” — The new female minister (Mary Tyler Moore) serves a midwestern fish dish, which somehow indirectly leads to Bobby accidentally burning down the church.

22. “Death and Texas” — Peggy goes to visit a death row convict, and unwittingly winds up smuggling cocaine in to him.

23. “Wings of the Dope” — Luanne thinks that her boyfriend Buckley (David Herman) has come back as an angel. Contains the famous use of the song “Life in a Northern Town” by Dream Academy.

24. “Take Me Out of the Ball Game” — Peggy becomes the star pitcher for Hank’s softball team, but Hank’s over-managing causes her to lose her touch.

25. “As Old as the Hills” — In the season finale, Hank and Peggy mark their twentieth wedding anniversary by lamenting their lost dreams, and they decide to do something crazy. This episode ties up the themes that have run through the season (such as Peggy’s frustration and Cotton’s new baby) into another funny, touching and well-constructed story.

I’m a big fan of Mike Judge and Greg Daniels’ KING OF THE HILL — I think it’s by far the best of the post-SIMPSONS animated sitcoms — but the third season, finally due for release on DVD, may be the best of the series; it was the season that won a well-deserved Emmy for best animated series. The writing was exceptionally strong in this season, with hardly a weak episode among the 25 episodes. And the writers came up with some unusual and offbeat stories to tell about Texas propane salesman Hank Hill and his friends and family. Some of the most memorable episodes include:

- Hank goes for a “swim with a dolphin” encounter at a fancy resort hotel, and the dolphin tries to sexually assault Hank.

- Hank and Peggy, to teach Bobby a lesson, convince him that he’s gotten his cousin Luanne pregnant and that he has to marry her. This episode features a hilarious guest voice appearance from Matthew McConaughey as a pretentious concert promoter named “Rad.”

- Hank and his friends become volunteer firefighters, and wind up destroying everything in sight. This episode, one of the funniest in the series’ run, proved that KING OF THE HILL, though usually praised for “subtle” humor, could do a wacky slapstick episode as well as or better than any other show.

- In a Christmas episode, Bill Dauterive is so lonely that he becomes suicidal, and then starts to dress up as his ex-wife. Somehow the writers managed to make this episode, which could have been depressing, into an offbeat, funny, and finally even touching story.

- After seeing a magician’s show, Bobby uses the tricks and patter to liven up his Sunday School report on Jesus, presenting himself as “The Amazing Jesus” and saying “Now, for my next miracle, I’ll need a large wooden cross and a couple of volunteers.”

There are many other memorable episodes, including Luanne’s encounter with an Angel; the episode where Bobby falls in love with an older girl voiced by Sarah Michelle Gellar (this was the Emmy-winning episode); and the episode where Peggy enters a beauty pageant (featuring Stephen Root’s hilarious rendition of “Takin’ Care of Business”). Because the episodes are so well-structured — with many of the stories organized around themes, and with A and B stories often intersecting — and because the characters were at their most fully developed and interesting by this season, the episodes are just as enjoyable on repeat viewing as they are on a first viewing.

Writers for season 3 included Richard Appel and Jon Vitti (veterans of The Simpsons), David Zuckerman (developer and showrunner of Family Guy), Norm Hiscock (head writer for Kids in the Hall), and Joe Stillman (screenwriter of the Shrek movies). But ultimately the show is true to Mike Judge’s style and sense of humor: instead of trying to be strange for its own sake, or make pointless pop-culture jokes, Judge’s stuff takes everyday life and shows how strange it is. If you liked Judge’s movie Office Space, you’ll like King of the Hill.

No announcement yet of what extras there will be on the set, but it is worth picking up for the episodes alone, and the price is certainly right for a great season of 25 episodes.

This doesn’t get released till November 10th, 2009. But, I just saw it in theaters (it was in very select theaters on Nov. 5, 8pm). It’s every bit as good as I hoped it would be. I was lucky enough to be near a theater that played this just a few hours ago, there were only 8 in the whole state of California that was playing this. Visuals were amazing, and the sound was superb. It’s not easy to fill a place like Royal Albert Hall with as much intensity, energy and passion as the Killers have done. The stage was attractive and familiar if you’ve been to a Killers show. The shots were well filmed and the sound capture was good as well. I can’t wait to get this and play the **** of my surround system.

Without a doubt, Shawn Spencer is the public’s favorite fake fictional psychic detective. Of course as far as I know, he’s also the only one.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Psych - The Complete Second Season! Click Here

But that doesn’t stop the second season of “Psych” from being a rollicking good time, full of crazy schemes and baffling murder mysteries. James Roday and Dulé Hill actually become even more entertaining, with less slapstick and more of a reliance on eccentric plot twists, pop culture references, and crimes that get ever weirder.

Shawn (Roday) and Gus (Hill) get swamped by reality pop culture when American Duos comes to Santa Barbara. The cruel British judge Nigel St. Nigel (Tim Curry) hires them to protect him, because he thinks that someone is trying to kill him.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Psych - The Complete Second Season! Click Here

A live wire and a poisoned sandwich later, Shawn agrees — especially when a drugged-out female judge almost dies. But out of all the people who loathe Nigel, which one tried to kill him? Then the police suspect that Shawn has lost his touch when he announces that someone was killed by a dinosaur, and is confronted by a sexy FTD psychic.

But that isn’t the last or least of Sean and Gus’s problems — a chop shop with secrets, bounty hunters, Gus’s parents accused of Yuletide murder, jockey deaths and fixed races, nanny-related robberies, electrocutions on the catwalk, and going undercover at a telenovela, a school for the gifted, and a retirement community. They even have a run-in with a wealthy, crazy woman that Gus drunkenly married on spring break years ago… and it turns out her new fiancee is a bit shady.

Finally, Shawn and Gus are pursuing one of their weirdest cases ever. First a security guard is suspected of stealing a 3000-year-old mummy — but then it appears that the mummy actually murdered the guard. Can Shawn figure out what is going on — with the mummy murder, the police chief, and his oddly-behaving father?

Although it didn’t break much new ground, the first season of “Psych” was very fresh and entertaining TV. Fortunately creator Steve Franks is sticking to the old adage: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” and the second season doesn’t deviate from what works — there’s still lots of comedy, spoofery, silly dialogue (”It’s spontaneous psychic krav maga!”) and enjoyable mysteries.

The first episode kicks things off a bit weakly, since the “American Idol” joke gets stretched out too far. Fortunately the mysteries after that get much more solid, deftly juggling even the funny-sounding plot twists (strangulation by mummy bandage? Refrigeration trucks?). You even get an endless parade of pop culture references, from Michael Jackson to “Shaun of the Dead,” James Bond to wikipedia.com. Gotta love that.

But the best aspect of “Psych” continues to be its kooky dialogue. Usually Shawn provides it (”I hunger for the meatballs the way a jackal salivates for an injured possum”), but other characters get to as well (”Hola. Me llamo Inspector Carlton Lassiter. Me gusta queso”).

Shawn and Gus remain an entertaining pair of twentysomething everymen, with Roday continuing to be eccentric, lovably charming and kooky — although Shawn gets quite a shock in the cliffhanger ending. And Hill gets more attention, with Gus pursuing models and faking psychic powers. We even discover a secret past involving sweater vests, spring break, and a drunken wedding — lots of fun.

And the supporting cast remains solid — Corbin Bernsen gets to participate in a couple of the cases as Shawn’s hard-nosed dad, sometimes in loud tropical shirts. Timothy Omundson continues to be entertaining as harder-nosed cop Lassiter. And Maggie Lawson rounds off the cast as the “enigma wrapped in a little blonde riddle” who is Shawn’s love interest, as well as a counterpoint to Lassiter.

The second season of “Psych” continues the eccentric crimes and equally odd crimesolvers, mingling comedy and mystery with only a couple weak spots. Sweet black licorice!

CAUTION: Watching Psych while enjoying milk may cause said milk to come out your nose. Please drink responsibly.

This show is freakin’ hilarious. There are a few sitcoms that have made me laugh, even one hour comedy/dramas that I have found amusing, but I have never watched a television show that has made me laugh as much or as consistently as Psych.

Shawn Spencer is a hyper-observant son of a police detective, who frequently calls in tips to the police hotline to solve crimes. After calling in one too many tips, the police bring him in for questioning. The head detective (”Lassiter a/k/a Lassie”) thinks that Shawn must be involved in the crimes to have given all the tips. To avoid arrest, Shawn tells the detective he is a psychic and the “spirits” give him the information about the crimes. Thus begins a beautiful relationship between the Chief, Lassie, Shawn and his best friend Gus. Shawn & Gus open “Psych”, their psychic detective agency which leads to all sorts of hijinx.

Thank you to everyone involved in making Psych and USA for airing it, because quite frankly it is the funniest show on tv, hands down. The cast is perfect, the premise interesting and the antics are hilarious! Just remember, avoid projectile milk. Now, who wants some pineapple? Are you a fan of delicious flavor?

I read all the horrible reviews in the newspapers, but went anyway when the temperature got over 100 and there was nothing else to take the kids (4, 9,10) to see. I’d have to say all the reviewers missed the point of this movie. It’s a wonderful movie for the right audience; kids about 12 and under. I guess that many people see Dana Carvey’s name and expect to find a movie targeted to the Wayne’s World/ Austin Powers demographic but that simply is not the case. The kids were laughing out loud many times during the movie and the end credits. The story is easy enough to follow, the humor in not too cruel or scatological, and the jokes are right up a kid’s alley.
I think the filmmakers blew it a bit in the trailers for the flick. Too many adults went expecting this would be for them, but come to think of it, the only time I saw previews for this was during movies for kids. Dads, take your younger children and they’ll have a great time. My 4 year olds favorite part was the way the evil villain kept ending his devious laugh. It made me laugh too.

“Master of Disguise” is not a GREAT MOVIE.

I understand if people don’t like it.

It is surreal and you never know what is going to happen in the very next minute.

It is ridiculous, confusing, fast paced, downright stupid, and childish.

These are the things that made me love it.

Dana Carvey has made a crazy movie for kids who love absurd humour.

If you remember making up stories with your siblings or friends, stories that made you shoot milk out your collective noses - but made your parents roll their eyes because you were “acting silly” - then you will understand “Master of Disguise”.

I can’t remember the last time I laughed this hard in a movie theatre. I couldn’t breathe at certain points. I should warn you, in a theatre full of kids and adults I was 1 of only 3 people laughing. (No, I wasn’t stoned or drunk).

This is a movie made with Dana’s kids in mind.

I enjoyed it as if I was 7 years old again.

I hope this movie has a long life on video.

I hope you laugh until milk shoots out your nose.
